The last flickering of light illuminates darkened fields and waterscapes. Intense golden hues with smoky strokes invite the viewer to a dawn or dusk. Krueger's vigorous palette, with a complex layering of hues and textures, truly provoke a familiar mood of harmony and balance.

Shawn Krueger began traveling to England in order to paint. Something about the rolling, vast landscape was attractive to him. It was much different than the flat, agricultural landscape he grew up with in northern Indiana.

After painting over a hundred images from every corner of Great Britain, Krueger began to look to the west Michigan landscape, one that was similar to what he saw in childhood, for a new body of work. This past year, an excursion to Ireland gave Krueger the opportunity to explore new landscapes.

Shawn also achieved an exhibition with the Grand Rapids Museum of Fine Art this year.
